Adding Tasks
Though Minder is not intended to be a replacement for a good task management application, it does provide a simple mechanism for making a leaf node in the mind map an actionable task by placing a checkbox on the node. When a leaf node (i.e., a node that does not have any children) is enabled as a task, all ancestor nodes of the leaf node will automatically be converted into tasks as well, displaying the completeness percentage of all descendant nodes that are assigned as a task.
After a node has been added to the mind map, you toggle the enablement of the task on that node by using any of the following methods:
- Select the node and view the selected node's information in the properties sidebar within the Current tab. Toggle the Task switch to enable/disable tasks.
- Select the node and show the contextual menu via a right mouse click. Select the "Add Task" option to make the node a task. Select the "Remove Task" option to make the node a non-task.
In addition to converting a single node into a task, you can convert all leaf nodes of a subtree within the map by selecting the parent node of the subtree to change and using either of the above methods for converting the node into a task. When applied, all nodes within the tree will be changed into nodes and all ancestors of the parent node will have a task checkbox added, displaying the completion percentage of the subnodes within it.
To mark a task node as complete, simply left click on the task checkbox on the left side of the node's title text. When this occurs, Minder will automatically update the completeness percentages on all ancestor nodes to reflect the completeness of the subtree.
To quick mark a subtree within the mind map as complete, click on the task checkbox of the parent of the subtree to change. This will mark all leaf nodes within the subtree that are tasks as complete and will automatically update completeness percentages up and down the tree.
To view the percentage of completed tasks, simply hover the mouse cursor over a non-leaf node's task checkbox. A tooltip will be displayed indicating the completeness percentage for that subtree.
For the most part, nodes marked as tasks will export this task information in all of the supported formats, where applicable.
