Overview

We need to find information about what needs to be done legally to be in compliance (e.g., registration) when offering an un-paid internship by a non-profit agency in the state of California.

• Read Wiki Glossary Draft for reference on definition of Interns and Internship
• Read California Department of Industrial Relations Website citing need for interns to be registered (link below)
• Conduct web searches or phone contacts for general reporting and document submission requirements for unpaid internships at non-profit organizations. (Consider calling phone number at Department of Labor website)
  • Obtain information about what makes a non-profit "exempt" for unpaid internships
• Create new comment below and note links, phone numbers, and/or address to reference where documents must be submitted
  • Note specific forms or requirements for documents that need submission, if submissions are required.
