Hello,

Can you please add a feature to enable alerting with this datasource

From what I've found on the official grafana forum [G-BOARD] this is due to the fact, that this plugin is a frontend-plugin only, no backend-plugin for grafana, which would be required to allow grafana doing altering using this datasource :-\

Afaik backend plugins are written in Go lang, I would love to help out, but my Go lang skills are limited to none right now.

Why would you do alerting via Grafana if you have everything in CheckMK?

@gurubert becaues - for our org - not everything we need for proper app monitoring is in CheckMK available and the team who owns CheckMk doesnt want everything to be in CheckMK, thus aggregating things in Grafana seems a valid approach and do alerting here.

If everything would be in CheckMK, of course alerting could be done there properly.

I would like to be able to alert on combined metrics - bandwidth from multiple ISP links - and I can't seem to do that in CheckMK for now, and I was hoping I could use the alerting in Grafana instead...but that's not possible either. Still looking for a solution for this one.

Hi,

as I do understand, plugins do not automatically support the configuration of alerts/notifications to a user or a group of users in case a defined threshold limit is reached.
This could be a feature in the future of this plugin. But I'm sorry to tell you, it will most likely not happen before #28.

I will keep this request open until there is a chance, that we will take care about this topic. Please be patient with us, as it may be the case, that we will not update this issue for a (again) long time. As long as it is open, we will consider it as a future feature.

Best Regards,
Marcel

Thanks very much for teams effort on this. Alerting support in Grafana would be awesome and absolute must have! Besides, many orgs use Grafana as a central point to combine multiple datasources for Monitoring, AND Alerting, ie Cloud Provider, Prometheus, checkmk etc...also No one wants to look at dashboards 24x7 when on call ;-)
